Castle ‘Tillegem’ at Sint-Michiels-Brugge (Belgium)

Description

A wooden tower surrounded by battlements was already built on this spot in the 9th century and was rebuilt into a stone castle 400 years later.

The castle was destroyed several times over the centuries, but always rebuilt.

At the end of the 19th century the castle was restored completely in neo gothic style, but the medieval look was preserved.
