Castle Spontin (Belgium)

Description

This historical castle was originally build in the middle ages (probably 12th century) as a massive defensive bastion.

In 1465 the structure was destroyed during a war and rebuilt again 50 years later.

However, this was not the end of its troubled times. In 1554 the French army arrived at the doors of the castle and destroyed it partly.

A century later, the edifice was restored again and accented with red bricks as we can still see today.
