The Ribeira (Porto / Portugal)
The Ribeira and particularly Barredo are still - in its clear reflection edge waterline - jewels of lived history of Porto, smelling the people of tract and sailor, lurking and living and to the river in times ennobled by some constructions more elegant, but overlook the city wall, in defiance of time and magrezas facade, all framing a life of a sui generis ethnographic wealth between extremely narrow alleys, lanes and squares, where people live in unsuspected rhythms between trade and 'regatices', a chloride clothes to dry, geraniums and opalecido brightness of the tiles hit by the sun at dusk today recovering and already exploited by typical restaurants attracting tourists.

A Ribeira e particularmente o Barredo são ainda – no seu reflexo claro de borda-d’água - jóias da história vivida do Porto, cheirando a gente de trato e marinheira, espreitando e vivendo para e do rio, em épocas enobrecidas por algumas construções mais elegantes, mas debruçadas sobre o muro da cidade, em desafio de altura e magrezas de fachada, tudo emoldurando uma vida de uma riqueza etnográfica sui generis, entre ruelas estreitíssimas, becos e largos, onde se vive, em ritmos insuspeitados, entre tráfegos e «regatices», num clorido de roupas a secar, sardinheiras e o brilho opalecido dos azulejos batidos pelo sol ao entardecer, hoje em recuperação e já explorada por restaurantes típicos atraindo turistas.
