The Gardens of Foz

The Gardens of Foz

The Gardens of Foz extend along the Avenue Montevideo and Brazil Avenue, in the marginal sea of Porto. Going through these gardens the first half of the century. XX are several points of interest that make memory of different historical and allegorical characters. At the beginning of Montevideo Avenue is a source (the photo documents) inaugurated in 1931 architect authored Manuel Marques, who is one of the rare examples of monumental fountains built in Oporto in the twentieth century.
The source is fully restored and well water as new, and the garden with a different layout, but more beautiful and pleasant to be there I am pleased to say that is a real treat for whom attends and pride for Porto.
It is also found in the Avenue Montevideo 'Human Leme' statue inaugurated in 1934 that pays homage to the men of the sea. At Avenida Brazil, one finds a bust representing Luis de Camoes, one of the most prominent characters of the Portuguese Renaissance culture, written by Irene Vilar. Even at Avenida Brazil can be observed a 1937 sculpture representing a lifesaver in the middle of a storm, written by Henrique Moreira.
