Hebridean Tour: *Blackhouse*

Renovated "blackhouse" and byre on North Uist (Uist a Tuath).
Many hundreds of these simple old stone houses stand abandoned throughout the Isles. Some are now being renovated with lots of love - and considerable expense. Now of course with all mod cons.
See below for a shot taken in an original blackhouse which had no chimneys or large windows and was built without mortar.

Viele Hunderte der einfachen alten Steinhäuser stehen verlassen auf den Inseln. Heute werden einige mühsam mit viel Liebe - und nicht wenig Kosten - renoviert. Heutzutage mit modern Einrichtungen.
