The Living Forest (26) : Wild boar

Description

The story continues…….

It’s end september, summer has gone and autumn is waiting to expand. Nature will change thoroughly in the weeks to come.

I made a 3 days hike in the ‘Hertogenwald’ (2nd greatest forest of Belgium) and met this Wild boar (Sus scrofa) looking for food between the bushes. Wild boars eat almost anything they come across, including grass, nuts, berries, carrion, roots, tubers, refuse, insects, small reptiles – sometimes even young deer and lambs !

Dutch name : Everzwijn
German name : Wildschwein
Latin name : Sus scrofa
