The Barnacle Goose is a beautiful medium-sized arctic goose that breeds mainly in Greenland, Spitsbergen and Nova Zembla.
In the past, this bird was only a winter visitor in western-Europe.
Since the eighties however breeding colonies were also established here on a regular base.
In Belgium, the first brood was found in 1984.
