The prize of the first born goslings of 2012 goes this year to.......the Egyptian Goose !

This large and distinctive waterbird is native to Africa, especially the Nile Valley in Egypt and south of the Sahara desert.
In Western Europe, the Egyptian Goose was introduced in the 18th century with well established feral populations as result.

This striking and sometimes aggressive bird was considered sacred by the ancient Egyptians and appeared in much of their artworks.
