In the 13th century, there was already a potent mansion on this spot that was transformed into a castle around 1627.
After World War II, the Belgian state bought the premises and the castle underwent a complete restoration in 1951.
Thereafter the castle became first a horticulture school and later a cookery school (until 2014).
