The Fungi world (83) : Honey Fungus

Description

The Honey Fungus usually grows on hardwood stumps and is typically appearing in large clusters in the autumnal forest soon after the first autumn rains.

This beautiful species however is a dangerous parasite of trees, causing an intensive white rot and ultimately death.
There is no cure against it and the fungus is responsible for large losses of timber each year.
