The Fungi World (373) : Oak Bracket

Description

My shot shows a young specimen of the oak bracket (also known as ‘weeping conk’)

This stemless fungus grows mostly at the base of oak trees where it causes white rot and decay of the trunks.
It often secretes an amber liquid which weeps from tubes in its upper surface.
