Description

The bell-shaped burgundydrop bonnet (also known as ‘bleeding fairy helmet’ or ‘bleeding mycena’) appears always on decaying stumps of deciduous trees, particularly beech.

When the flesh of this fungus is damaged, a dark blood-red juice comes out.
