Lisbeth Salander

Street artists: Brazilian twin brothers Otavio Pandolfo and Gustavo Pandolfo. known as Os Gêmeos

The mural was paint as a part of The Millennium Tour in Stockholm based on the trilogy of books by Swedish writer Stieg Larsson. The girl is the character of Lisbeth Salander. Red haired then dyed raven black, pale, androgynous young woman, Lisbeth is gifted, but deeply troubled, and works as researcher and computer hacker.
The piece carries a special significance both for the artists and the city as it's the first official mural of Stockholm since the 1970s. The city council had a zero tolerance towards anything graffiti related for over 20 years. Using the buildings structure as a frame of their work, the artists created a simple illusion of depth as the background for the image. Within this space they placed their signature yellow characters. The pattern on the shoes serves as a window into a new dimension in which Os Gemeos is tipping their hat to the style that they were most characterized by in the 90s. This willingness to bring the old into contact with the new is something you can also notice in the toy subway car. Just like they already did with Efêmero [vedi foto] in Milan, the SUBWAY model used once again becomes the city’s metonymic symbol, and in this case, they used the former green Stockholm metro that was retired from circulation years ago.
