The Living Forest (245) : Field Bindweed

Description

Field Bindweed is a creeping plant with attractive funnel-shaped flowers, native to Europe and Asia.

In the forest the plant can mostly be found along streams or woodland ponds.

Although the plant produces attractive flowers, it often ‘attacks’ agricultural fields and reduces crop yields due to its rapid growth and choking of cultivated plants.
As a result, it is considered as one of the most serious weeds of agricultural fields in temperate regions of the world.

A plague for farmers, a delight for nature lovers…….
