I found a few exceptional plants while exploring the swamps of ‘Hohes Venn’, the greatest National Park of Belgium.
Cottongrass is a typical plant of swamps and tundra bogs.
This grass species is most conspicuous in summer when the fruiting plant develops distinctive silky-white plumes that resemble tufts of cotton (known as bog cotton).
Pretty rare in Belgium, so I was happy with my find.
