The Living Forest (381) : Rowan

At this time of the year, most berries are ripe in the forest in splendid colours like these of the rowan.

Those bright red berries are an important food resource for many birds (especially redwing, fieldfare, blackbird, mistle thrush and waxwing) which in turn disperse the seeds in their droppings back to nature.
